To mark Red Cross Appeal Week (4 -10 May), staff at Ripon Land Rover in Ripon are organising a Dress Down Day on Friday 9th of May to raise much needed funds for the British Red Cross – including a prize draw with a chance to win a Land Rover adventure of a lifetime.

All visitors to Ripon Land Rover dealership during the Red Cross Appeal Week can make a voluntary donation to the British Red Cross and also take the opportunity to enter a free prize draw for a chance to win one of 20 Adriatic Adventures.

This four-day journey from Montenegro to Dubrovnik will see the winners, and a guest, drive the range of Land Rover’s supremely capable 4x4 vehicles across diverse terrain from scenic coastline to challenging off-road environments. In addition, visitors will have the opportunity to enter a free prize draw for a chance to win one of 10 Land Rover G4 Mountain Bikes.

Commenting on the fundraising initiative) Graham Clark, Sales Manager at Ripon Land Rover, said: “As a dealership, we are committed to making a significant contribution to this worthy cause and, in partnership with the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, our efforts support a wider Land Rover drive to raise around £1 million*. We will be holding a dress down day on Friday 9th of May to raise funds for this very worthy cause.”

The British Red Cross is the UK’s leading voluntary crisis response organisation and supports people in adverse circumstances every day of the year. From a large-scale disaster, such as the tsunami or Pakistan earthquake, to a more personal emergency, such as returning home from a stay in hospital or requiring first aid, the Red Cross is always on hand to provide unconditional care.

Land Rover supplies a quarter of the global aid agency market's annual requirement for vehicles, which are used by emergency services, police, ambulance and mountain rescue teams across the UK and worldwide.

Since 1948 Land Rover has been manufacturing authentic 4x4s that represent true 'breadth of capability' across the model range. Defender, Freelander 2, Discovery 3, Range Rover Sport and Range Rover each define the world's 4x4 sectors, with 78% of this model range exported to over 140 countries. Land Rover employs 8,300 people and supports a further 40,000 jobs supported in the supply chain.

Land Rover is committed to addressing the challenges of climate change and since September 2006 carbon dioxide generated by Land Rover manufacturing activities and UK customer vehicle use has been balanced through an industry leading offset programme run by Climate Care.

Customers of all new Land Rover vehicles sold in the UK pay to offset the CO2 emissions produced by their vehicle, calculated on the certified CO2 emissions level for each Land Rover model up to 45,000 miles, typically three years use. The cost is from £85 to £165 depending on model.   The programme is being extended to other European markets this year.

97% of Land Rovers sold in the UK are diesel powered, making the average combined fuel consumption of Land Rovers sold in the UK over 30mpg. The Freelander 2 TD4 manual, delivers and average 37.7 mpg.

Prize Draw main terms and conditions – open to all UK residents aged 23 or over. The closing date for entries is 29.12.08. The draw will take place on 05.01.09. The winners will be notified by 12.01.09 by post. Full terms and conditions are available from a Land Rover dealership.
